I feel sad about racism and prejudice in our society. I was growing optimistic, but I guess some people just won’t ever get over it. A year ago, I was in a relationship with a white guy (I am not white). His true character was revealed one night when we were watching a basketball game on TV. I expressed my admiration of the black athletes’ build and skills. He responded by telling me that the reason blacks are all that is because they were designed to be food for the lions, as his father always told him. A week after that, I broke up with him. I would never see myself disrespecting nor underestimating another person just because of our difference in race, religion or orientation.
